I bought myself I present of pencils last week, and this is me test driving them. Sadly because I was in a hurry to play with the pretty colours there are quite a few technical faults in the drawing but over all I'm quite pleased. For some reason my scanner picked up the grain really strongly, couldn't seem to do anything about it

My anger and shame to think how they'd made mock of all that I loved. My Justice and her bestial swain, cavorting in their blood-stained sheets - V, V for Vendetta.
I think the blue grain works well with this piece -- it adds a sense of emotional detachment or melancholy. If there were a yellow or orange tint to the piece, we would get a much different feeling -- something warm, comforting and inviting. This tint, however, invokes a sense of longing or of something lost. So it all depends on the mood you were looking for.
I this is you not used to pencils at all then I'll eagerly see what you come up with with practice - this is amazing. The whole piece works well, from composition to technique. Great job
I don't think that the 'blue grain' is a problem at all. It's even quite pretty. I wondered whether the picture could benefit from more definite highlighting.

`karemelancholia is one of the most genuine deviants you could ever met. Always active and a true deviantART cheerleader and supporter in every aspect. You can always count on her to lend a hand or get involved, and you usually will find her doing large amounts of both at any given moment. She's consistently reports on contests around dA, showcases the efforts of her fellow artists and shows her charitable side through various activities. Besides all of this, she's a truly talented artist which is why she's an obvious choice for deviousness this month. Read More
